Adrian initially joined Circle’s team in the summer of 2004, and in a full-time role after graduating with honors from Red River College’s Graphic Design program in May of 2005. He was awarded the GDC’s CREO Scholarship for 2004/2005. Three years of prior study in the sciences at the University of Manitoba and extensive work experience in the retail and hospitality sectors—combined with his graphic design talents, technical skills and enthusiasm—have proved to be a good fit at Circle.
Adrian is the current Activities Chair for GDC (Society of Graphic Designers of Canada) Manitoba Chapter. An active martial artist, Adrian is currently studying the Kyokushin style of Karate. In his spare time, he enjoys the fine arts, golf, billiards and camping in the great Canadian wilderness. Adrian is a Leo and speaks fluent Cantonese. He blogs on the palendromic MUHSASHUM here.
Kevin brings over 10 years of industry-wide experience to Circle. His expertise spans multiple mediums including Print Production, Web and New Media Design & Development.
Kevin graduated with top marks obtaining a certificate in Design and Communications in 1996 and began his career as an intern in 3D and video production. Kevin took a position in the art department of a local newspaper in 1997, and after several years in the print industry, expanded his capabilities as a web designer when he transfered to the New Media department. Shortly after he began working as a freelance web and multimedia specialist. Kevin is a professional member of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), New Media Manitoba and the IGDA. Kevin is committed to continually updating and widening his knowledge of the design industry and its promising future technologies.
In his spare time, Kevin keeps active with all sorts of physical activities. He is involved in Muay Thai classes, is an avid snowboarder in the winter, and in the summer he often spends his weekends on mountain biking, camping and hiking trips. He is also a part-time member of the James Biltmore band as back-up vocals, guitar and bass player.
Carol joined Circle in 1997, bringing with her extensive experience in client liaison, customer relations, and event planning. Along with her front-line role with clients, she is also active in administration and managing Circle’s Winnipeg office. Carol has worked in a variety of market sectors including statistical research, fashion photography, product sales, and business administration. Carol holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (majoring in Psychology and English) from the University of Manitoba and is an Associate member of the GDC. She began her career as a labour and immigration counselor with the Federal Government, and has also worked with Women’s Television Network (WTN), Holt Renfrew, and Statistics Canada before joining Circle.
When not at work, Carol can usually be found with family and friends. She enjoys outdoor activities, sailing, gardening, cooking, and a variety of creative pursuits. A prolific reader, Carol has been an active book club member since 1982.
Sue joined Circle in Winnipeg in 1997—prior to that she worked as an agency art director in Regina, gaining valuable experience in advertising and publishing. Since graduating on the Dean’s Honour List from Red River College’s Applied Arts program, Sue has developed expertise in the design of publications, visual identity systems and standards, corporate incentives, postage stamps, and annual reports. Sue has taught Advanced Typography at Red River College and continues to be active with the College as an industry member of the Graphic Design Advisory Board.
Though native to Manitoba, Sue has enjoyed travels to Scotland, Switzerland, Italy, and the Caribbean. When it comes to working with her hands, she is always looking to master a new skill. Her diverse interests include ballroom dancing, film, visual arts, needlework, mosaics, long-distance running, green living, and home renovation. In past years Sue has volunteered for MCC (Victims’ Voice) and the Winnipeg Humane Society. Over the years, Sue has served as the GDC (the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada) Manitoba Membership Chair, Education Chair, and as an organizing committee member for the GDC 2004 Blue Sky Conference. Sue also designed the GDC Graphic Design Journal (2002–2006), Canada’s academic visual communication design publication.
Robert founded Circle in 1976 and is active today as a strategist and creative practitioner, with expertise in branding, corporate communications, and design management.
Robert was raised and schooled in Germany, Switzerland and England. After beginning a career in fine art, he moved to Canada where he studied design and design management. Robert is a former president of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda), the NGO and professional world body for visual communication. He has also served as a vice president of the non-profit humanitarian organization Design for the World based in Barcelona, and is author of the book Worldwide Identity. Robert has traveled extensively (close to 60 countries) and is active globally in professional development and as a frequent design juror, policy advisor, guest lecturer, and author. Robert is passionate about making tomorrow’s world a better place—by shaping culture, building respect for diversity, and furthering understanding among people everywhere.
For the past 25 years, Robert has lived in a low-energy passive solar home he designed and built in the woods east of Winnipeg, Canada.
