“Creating an effective visual personality for a well-established entity is often more difficult than for a new organization. The key here was a graphic re-expression of existing iconography.”

The new symbol provides a fresh iteration of the client’s established, though graphically dated, identifier…

Timeless Identification
The St. Boniface General Hospital was established in 1871 by the Sisters of Charity of Montreal (the “Grey Nuns”)—the St. Boniface General Hospital and Research Foundation started 100 years later, and the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre opened in 1987, the first free-standing research facility in Canada.
Circle was engaged to update St. Boniface’s longstanding graphic identity and to help project consolidation and new synergies within the corporate entity. A new symbol and logotype was required for application to three separate entities—the Hospital, Research Centre and Foundation. The resulting corporate identity consists of a modern, timeless symbol with positive characteristics, reflecting the organization’s Catholic roots and building on established visual equity. Bilingual and unilingual logotypes (in a myriad of variations) define each of the three organizations, with colour-coded graphic standards ensuring visual consistency.
