The North West Company—Annual Reports
The North West Company (NWC) is a leading retailer of food and everyday products and services to rural communities and urban neighbourhoods in Canada, Alaska, the South Pacific, and the Caribbean, with annual sales of $1.4 billion. Tracing its roots to North America?s first trading post established at Waskaganish on James Bay in 1668, NWC is today Canada?s largest corporate employer of aboriginals.
Circle has designed NWC’s annual report for the past 16 years. The process usually begins with a post mortem of the previous year’s report, followed by close collaboration with the client re: conceptual planning and an appropriate theme and visual treatment for the next report. In the months leading up to each report’s final production, Circle is often involved in art direction of location photography in NWC’s remote communities.
