Mapping the Great White North
The Noth West Company (NWC) traces its roots to the first fur-trading post established at Waskaganish on James Bay in 1668. With over 200 stores across northern and western Canada and Alaska, maps are a key information asset for NWC—used in planning, recruitment, marketing, logistics, and investor communications.
To meet the needs for various uses, sizes and formats of maps (from printed documents to large wall-mounts), Circle created original master digital artwork for a versatile and easy-to-update mapping system. Legends key diverse retail banners to geographic locations, and layering of specific information (e.g. winter roads, ocean routes, rivers and waterways, nomenclature, etc.) allow for customized map versions to be created from the master files.
