The post office has a real responsibility to ensure that Canadian postage stamps reflect the country—its people, history, traditions and cultures…. These tiny pieces of paper offer so much opportunity to share the best of Canada with all Canadians, and the world.”

Fishing Fly Stamps

Each of the four stamps in Circle’s stamp series for Canada Post features a specially commissioned fishing fly “frozen in a nostalgic moment of time” against a painterly trout stream or salmon river, with illustrations by Alain Massicotte. The stamps are a philatelic tribute to the craft of fly-tying, the revered art of fly-fishing, and to the pristine wilderness, fertile waters, and diverse geography of Canada.

Project scope entailed both pressure-sensitive stamp booklets and gummed souvenir sheets, as well as official first day covers (OFDC), a favorite with collectors, as well as souvenir playing-card sets.
