These stamps and philatelic collectilbes appealed to detail-oriented collectors, the general public, and the design community, garnering Canada's top design recognition (The Summit Award) as well as international kudos and publicity.
RCMP Commemorative Stamps
Circle was engaged by Canada Post to design a special set of stamps and philatelic materials to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The process: research, ideation, submission of concepts, refinement, production design, and proving. The result: a unique tryptich design depicting the RCMP at work—a historical stamp, an interstitial tab, and a present day stamp. Illustrative techniques blend past and present.
In addition to stamp panes, souvenir sheets (including an “un-cut collector’s sheet”), and official first day covers, Circle was also invited to create a unique commemorative product for collectors. This resulted in a bilingual, cloth-bound limited edition set containing a richly illustrated history booklet, a mint silver $5 coin, a specially-imprinted stamp souvenir sheet, and an atypical first day cover—both a commercial and critical success, popular with collectors and with the general public.
